kids make it monday update...

last monday, i reported that the girls were going to start cooking on mondays.
they made homemade meatballs with spaghetti.
they completed the whole meal.  salad and all.
it was delicious.  i am not a huge meatball eater-and i gave it two thumbs up.
they were so cute.
today is monday.  we are getting the menu ready.

kids make it monday....

so our kids love to cook.  anne wavers slightly, but kate is totally head over heels about cooking.  always has been.
adam and i have been talking about them making the WHOLE meal once a week-start to finish-with our supervision.
i have been wanting to do it, and have one little cookbook that my mom got me when we were little.  i hadn't pulled it out yet.
today we went to the library.  i put the kebash on bringing home 87 books that we don't ever get through and that i have to keep track of. so the girls were struggling with finding books they were interested in...i looked up kids cookbooks.  VIOLA  section J641....we hit the jackpot.  came home with 4 cookbooks and picked out a meal, complete with a salad that the girls will be cooking tonight.
we came up with thename...kids make it monday-each monday, they will plan, and prepare the meal.
i'm excited.  they are too.

i think this is nice...

please don't call helmet police...i'm not sure why kate doesn't have her helmet on.  it's a serious rule in our house!

finish each day and be done with it...you have done what you could.
some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can.
tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely,
and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.

happy day.

today is the 3 week mark of the boardwalk incident.
and i am pleased to announce....I THINK I FINALLY CAN ADMIT I FEEL BETTER...
now, as night starts setting in, it's starting to perk up a little bit, if you know what I mean.  BUT i walked nearly the entire day on THIS side of normal instead of THAT side of WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH HER?!
ha.
i'm praying like CRAZY that this is the turning point. i was told...it would happen.  but honestly, i didn't believe it would come.  stupid. really.  of course it would...
pray for me and with me...that i am on the home stretch of this ridiculously menial problem.

honesty is the best policy...

right?
everyone always says--you should be honest.
so i am going to be.
a.  my foot still hurts.  not so bad i need crutches, but bad enough i look like i have an injury, and sometimes i need to hold on to stuff, and it's just an annoyance.
b.  i had huge exciting things planned for the girls this summer.  it's not going so hot. most of them included walking, a lot of walking.  and i can't do that so well so that is self explanatory.
c.  i love the summer- i really, really do, but i'm also a people person, and the summer removes me from my peeps, so i'm a little bummed about that.
d.  i've read five books so far this summer-mostly mindless stuff.  i must admit, i don't read heavy material...i'm in need of more books, so i can sit still...any suggestions?
e.  raising girls is hard.  anne and i can go nose to nose often.  we just had a little altercation about playing in the playroom-it's in our basement. she HATES going downstairs.  she goes in everyone else's basement-but not ours.  it drives me nuts.  just nuts.  today she won't play downstairs because the tv is not working right and i can't figure out why.  ugh.  girls.
f.  kate-is still just 5. she thinks she is 11 or maybe 15.  she wants to be included in activities that anne gets to go to, but she isn't old enough.  hard to explain to someone that is 5.  so most times, at a drop off for anne, i have kate crying-ugh.
g.  our neighbors cat got stuck in the tree about a day and half ago. it was still there this morning so,  guess what?  the fire department came to get it down. i thought that only happened on curious george.
h.  yesterday, i took the girls to the pool.  i sat most of the time. (surprise) the person sitting next to me was quite chatty.  i can be known to be a talker-but not generally to complete and total strangers...she went on and on and on about my swim suit-she was QUITE a bit older then me.  i wasn't sure if i should take it as a compliment or be reassured that i did indeed pick out an OLDER looking swimsuit for the 2013 swimsuit season.  what a riot!

i think that is all i have for today's confessional of what is going on in my not-so-exciting world.
i aplogize for the non use of capital letters and the extreme amount of run on sentences...it's just how it is going today.

Just sayin...

I really miss this. So if you can't find me...check South Carolina.  I may be there.

homeward bound

adam was determined to get us home in one day from vacation-
one day meaning-14 hours straight through....we stopped exactly three times.
i got out of the car twice.
the second time i was within inches of being backed over by a truck-so i decided inside the van even with a full bladder was much safer then me on crutches at a gas station...
the girls were absolutely perfect.
we don't really support media in the cars, but for trips, especially a trip home that is very long...we give it two thumbs up.
the girls watched a few movies.
they read.
they dozed.
they ate a lot of junk food.
they finished up the license plate game (RECORD YEAR-45 STATES!)
and watched out the window.
poor adam did all.the.driving.
i just sat, and winced, and groaned, and cried a little....
riding14 hours in the car with a very sore rib and a foot that looks like a tube is just that great.
but we made it.
i said in the last post that, that post was the last vacation post.
i lied.
it's actually this one.
i just had to close it up...
on with the rest of summer now!

poor kate. couldn't help it. this needs to be saved and sent to her husband when they get married.

looking pretty good-about hour 7

welcome to missouri.
nice, huh?  looks like something off a science fiction movie.  hahahha
