whew. i think we passed...
So yesterday, was a big day. A real big day.
Mrs. Dittmer and Ms. Lynn came to our house.
The said names are Anne Clara's kindergarten teachers.
Yes, that's right, they came to.our.house.
gulp.
I wasn't sure what to do.
Should I wear a skirt? Or would that seem weird.
Should I spray something in the house, bake cookies, like when you sell it...you are supposed to make it smell nice.
Should Anne dress super cute, or should she pick her outfit like normal.
You guessed it, I was nervous.
Even had a stomach ache a little.
But, they came.
We talked.
Anne was good.
Kate behaved.
I didn't bake cookies.
Anne picked her outfit.
I wore a skirt.
Adam came home 3/4 of the way through the visit.
The visit went great. Anne didn't act weird and shy. Kate didn't yell ME TOO ME TOO too many times...They didn't think the deer head and pheasant mounts were weird-it was great.
I'm now actually, dare I say, excited about Anne and kindergarten.
I think, it's going to be great. Anne does too.

fillin' buckets...
I'm always looking for new ideas in my classroom. The past few years, I've not done well with finding new things. Just felt blah.
A co-workers daughter turned me onto this book.
It's teaching kids, er people, the idea that being nice goes a LONG way.
I have had my fair share, as most, of people that just aren't nice.
My personality lends itself to the sensitive side. So I spend a decent amount of time trying to 'fix' the idea that they aren't nice.
Are they not nice because they don't like ME?
Because I did something wrong?
Because someone did something to them?
BLECK! It's a time suck.
I read this book and thought...VIOLA! This is what my students need to hear. At age 8. They must know that a smile is an amazing thing. A genuine look in the eye. Even a vague compliment. WOWSERS!
I admit, I think I can overdo on the bucket filling, but it hasn't killed me yet!
The book is so simple yet so true.
It's unreal. Very poignant.
I read it to the fam today.
Now Anne is running around double checking that everyone's buckets are full. :)
If you get a chance, and have 7 bucks to blow. BUY IT!
For no other reason but...NICE MATTERS!

Beginnings...
Well, today marks a new beginning. I have gotten sucked into the world of "Blogging". I am excited. I hope it is a great way to keep everyone up to date, as well as keep a living journal of all the exciting things we do!
Today also marked the first 'official' day of summer for me. School got out Thursday (for the teachers), I cleaned the house like a maniac yesterday and then the fun and games started today...ahhh. I LOVE IT!
It also marked the beginning of me being an official owner of a 'fancy shmancy' camera. I have not a clue as to what I am doing BUT I took over 175 pictures today and BY GEORGE some of them turned out decent!
Be patient with my new endeavours in the blogging world. My goal is to update whenever I have something good...and in our house, that, at times, is hourly!
