the rest of vacation....

i'm pretty sure I have drawn this out long enough.
in a nutshell. we had a fantastic time.
I could go on and on.
I won't.
I already am counting the days/months till next year.

 

 

Adam's uncle lives about 30 minutes from where we were staying.  We hung out with him one day.  VERY FUN!
 

Vacation Monday

Monday was continuing the trend of awesome-ness. 
Minus a flat tire that we discovered, in the parking lot of the condo-which really, all things considered, is a pretty awesome place to get a flat! :)

Adam had to get a haircut, and decided that Beufort, SC is as good as place as any to get a trim.  We headed to the beach, he headed to get a tire fixed and a haircut. 

I got a call on my cell phone, he wanted us to be back to the condo and ready in 45 minutes.  He had a surprise for the girls...

We were going on the horse drawn carriage ride tour of the town. 
It was AWESOME.
It was hot, but amazing.
We saw some of the most fascinating beautiful homes, some of them had really cool stories.
For instance, Barbara Strisand, yes, THE BABS (wonder if she would mind me calling her that?!)  Was filming Prince of Tides. (I hope I have that right....)
Walked up the door (or I'm sure she had her 'people' do that) of this gorgeous home, and said, that SHE would like to RENT THE HOUSE for as long as she was going to be there (just a couple months).
Ms. Strisand, then told them, she would like to do some renovations.  (some=MAJOR when it comes to movie stars, BUT she re-reno'd it when she moved out!)
The family that lived there-said, um SURE. That's awesome.  Now here is how much we would like to charge in rent.  She said OKAY!  (the figure was enough to send all FOUR of their children through FOUR years of college!) 
Sally Fields and a few others that now I forget (I knew I should have taken notes) rented, during movie tapings. 
I am not famous, nor ever want to be.  BUT I would love to live in this little area.  FOREVER!

horse had JUST LICKED MY DRESS.  gross.

stopped for lunch.  and a cool beverage.  fun glass included! :)
 

day 2. father's day

sunday after we arrived was father's day.
the girls had the cutest cards picked out.
adam did what adam likes to do-relaxed, cooked, hung out with us.
it was really a perfect day for all.

a great day.
I want to go back.

the first night

we started our trip to vacation a bit different this year.
we left on Friday. around noon.
we stopped in festus for adam to make us matching shirts for our trip. but oh wait, he forgot to make himself one. :)  AND I didn't get a picture of us in our shirts....i'm slipping.
we ate lunch.
and then headed out.
we drove to about the middle of tenessee and started the hunt for a hotel.
we hunted. and hunted. and hunted some more.
it was like the night Jesus was born, there was NO ROOM IN THE INN.
there was some sort of a music festival going on and the lady told adam that there was not much of a chance we would be finding a room anytime soon.
gulp.
luckily we found one right outside of Chattanooga.  it had a pool.  we got the last room. it was clean.
we were good.
we left the next morning and still had about 7 hours to go.
the girls expected us to arrive just after lunch, so the last leg of the trip was a bit hairy.
and it rained. hard.
BUT.
we got there.
and did what we need to do first.
GO SEE THE OCEAN!

day 2 of vacation detox seems to be the worst so far.

first and last day

so i'm behind.
as usual. but slowly, very slowly getting caught up.
the girls last day of school was a week ago this past Friday.
they were so excited, but so anxious about what the next year will bring.
of course they are head over heels about summer....
here was the first day of school this year.

Picture cracks me up...the were patiently waiting for the carpool dad to pick up and he was coming down the street as I was like DON'T MOVE!

I'm sure all are wondering about the chicks that adam brought home at easter....
they are tricky little fellows to grab a photo of.
the gals have been fun to play with.  and to keep up with.
our girls are in love with them. 
we built a fence in-d area for them this weekend, a chicken run, I believe they call it. 
dog kennel gone chicken yard....I call that up cycling. :)
