admissions.

so here it is.
some confessions...
*i hate homework.
*i wish i were back on my little 'second honeymoon' trip with the hubs.
*i do love being a momma.
*kate has been asleep for the past 3 hours.  she says she has a tummy ache.  i am praying all tummy contents stay in the belly.
* adam and i are 'house hunting'.  it is a bad time to be trying to do something like that.  but we are.  who knows where that may take us. (or not take us)
*sometimes i'm a cranky parent (that is a teacher) when it comes to teacher/parent relationships. and that can be weird.
*girlscout cookies are in, so if you ordered....we will be calling you.
*i'm so happy february is over.  (although i do love anne's birthday, our anniversary, and adam's birthday, all other days, not necessary)
*march is here. but that also means storms are here. i hate storms.
*only two and half months of school.  whoop whoop!
*adam signed up to be anne's softball coach....(you can stop giggling...it will be great!)
* i wish my sissy lived in missouri, illinois, kentucky, tennessee, or ohio, or even indiana or kansas.   i miss her.
* i love being a 2nd grade teacher.
* sometimes i wish i could retire.
*i don't like laundry, and that is what i am avoiding, by writing this.

so there you have it.  everything i have thought about in the last 5 minutes or so.
simply put.

anne's party....

this is waaaaay overdue.
we have just had some things going on....and i kind of forgot that i hadn't posted it.
this had to be one of my favorite parties so far.
we had it a candy shoppe. i went into the whole thing complelty blind. i had never even been to the place.
i booked it. made some choices of what we wanted to do. held my breath, croosed my fingers (and toes), said a prayer, and went.
it was perfect.
the theme was a tea party.
they played games, drank real tea, then drank sugar water 'tea', went to 'buy' candy from the shoppe from their winnings from their games, and then had their cake.
the cutest thing...each girl got a 'cake ball' with a candle.
the host told the girls that they were to each make a wish for anne when they blew out the candle.
the party was over, we were heading home. i looked into the review mirror and anne was in deep thought.
i asked if she was okay....
anne says, yes, i am just wondering what all THEIR WISHES WERE!
too stinkin' cute.

weekend trip.

who doesn't love a swan towel on the tub????

captial building, maybe?  thought it was pretty on the river...

adam's birthday gift arranged by the b&b that i asked for.

he liked it.

on the deck outside our cottage

almost, and i mean, ALMOST lost the top layer of my face by running from the tripod to the 'spot'.  whew!

this is nice, too bad it's CROOKED!

well, we just got back from our little 2nd honeymoon, stay-cation trip.
adam planned a trip for us to go to our favorite weekend spot. hermann, mo.
loved it. again. the cottage we stayed at were amazing. i'm not real seasoned in fancy accommodations, but i would say this is the nicest place we have stayed inside the 50 states.
wowsers.
plus, it was totally private. no having to eat breakfast with folks and do that weird friendly smile, but don't make it too friendly, because i really don't want to talk kind of smile...
perfect.
i learned something interesting. sunset photos are NOT as easy as they appear. you get the drift. but it wasn't the perfect 10 year picture i was thinking of.
back to reality this week.
no birthdays, no anniversaries, just being a momma.
that's good too.

10.

10 years ago today.
February 23, 2002.
 I married my best friend.
Seriously can't believe it has been 10 years.
I remember the smell of the air that day.
How can ten year old air still smell? :)
I made this little video for him, for his gift.
I thought I would post it here as well.
The pictures are pixel-y and that makes me sad...but don't sweat the small stuff right?

Wednesday.

Today is Ash Wednesday.
It is the beginning of Lent.
I have always loved Lent.  I think because of the huge anticipation of Easter.
I don't know, but I like the reverence of it all, the focus...I just like it.
I also like that it begins the 40 bags in 40 days.
I almost forgot about it. (gasp!)
Until I read Sarah's post and it reminded me.
For some reason I skipped it last year.  I shouldn't have.
This past weekend, after Gram's funeral, I got a head start.
Monday I took 6 bags to Goodwill and 2 bags to the trash.
I was talking to my friend Julie, asking if she thought I could count those bags in...or would that be like saying I went to church twice last week, so I don't have to go this week?
She said COUNT 'EM ON IN!
COOL!
I'm hoping to beat the 40....maybe 50? 60?  yikes!  Better not get ahead of myself.
I noticed that today on Clover Lane she gave a very step by step approach to the system.
I'll keep you updated on how the purging goes.
Happy Lent!

Gram

My Gram went to Heaven this week.
The past few days have been full of family, laughter, tears, and food.
Today is a hard day for all.
It's quiet.
Suz went back to the airport. Adam is back to the office.
There are no services to go to or people to be with.
It's just quiet.
The sadness will get less.
Our memories never will.
We were so lucky to have such a wonderful lady touch our lives for so long.
He lives, all glory to his name!
He lives, my savior, still the same;
What joy this blest assurance gives:
I know that my Redeemer lives!
