the day after the week before...

the calm before the storm-Christmas eve 2013

hello.
it's December 26th. the day nearly every parent is the most tired they will be all year. ;)
I love it.
our Christmas was just right.  Christmas spent with family-great church service, lots of yummy food, and good belly laughs.

the girls are at such a fun age-they are in love with everything that has a bow and a tag with their name on it.

it is 12:14pm and I am thinking I really must get the day started.  but, I may wait till 3pm.
susan comes home at 5pm.  that should give me plenty of time to do whatever it is you do the day after Christmas! (for me-that is usually sit and stare!)

I think first on my list-eat dill dip leftovers with fresh veggies.

Lots to still be excited about-a whole week filled with fun and festivities!

Christmas Eve 8:00am

Here is what our house looks like this morning.
Didn't want anyone to be concerned that we were sitting around caroling. HA! :)
Just kidding-for some reason I don't even mind the mess and semi chaos our house is in.
The girls are so excited (more like hanging from the cieling)
I am so excited-close to hanging from the ceiling.
Adam is NOT working today or tomorrow-WHOOP WHOOP! the rest of the week is even questionable.
It's cold outside-like Christmas cold.
The next 24 hours are some I live for, for the e.n.t.i.r.e. year. (and of course the days after when Susan and co. come home!)
This year-the holidays have not been crazed.  They have been busy.  But there has been minimal drama.  There have not been any crazy scrooge mom moments.
Well, maybe one.
Merry Christmas Eve!

the tree...

no exciting story this year about our christmas tree...not like this year, or that year, or maybe this one...
we went to lowes.  got TWO trees. and decorated them.
the girls decorated the family room tree with all 'their' ornaments.  it was so sweet to hear them remember the stories of last year-or make up a story of remembering when they got the ornament.  LOVE IT.  New tradition for sure.

just some ordinary days in December

this is Santa Anne-she was making the naughty/nice list for the family.  all fun and games till she put Kate on the naughty list

dressed up for the school Christmas program

angels

smiley jack

signing...

goof ball

the program is always darling-they always have some sort of a prop-this year they had these darling glasses-it's COOL to love Jesus!

tons of heads with the cool glasses

hysterical
I have been REALLY working on enjoying the Christmas spirit-and not rushing through all the activities-while saying that, I haven't had a LOT of exciting stuff to snap a picture of.  I flipped through camera and found some must shares! :)

I don't have pics of Anne because she was on the other side of the church, OF COURSE!  So anyway, Anne was there-but I couldn't catch her!

Santa baby.....

This morning we went to see the Disney movie Frozen.  It was DARLING!  The theater offered free passes if you brought in canned food.  DEAL! (I might add-that was really an amazing thing-there were boxes upon boxes upon boxes of canned food-made me a little teary....food banks will be filling!!!)

Then we went to see Santa.  It was darling.  We went to the Oakland House.  Santa was there, with cookies, candy canes, puppet show, and a story.  The girls loved it!

Anne mentioned to me quietly-'I know he isn't the real Santa'....(uh...room gets fuzzy)
me-oh? really
A-yep, he's the helper.  Santa is so busy, he doesn't have time to come talk to us.
me-right.
A-the real Santa is a busy guy.
me-right.
A-I mean it!
me-good! :)

getting our bake on!

well...the girls and I have a 'snow day' today-it's not super snowy but the threat of more snow made people nervous, I guess.
regardless-what are three girls to do with an entire day?
we are going to BAKE.
well, I think only two of the recipes call for baking-i'm not a very good baker, I do however, love my list of no bake cookies.  plus the girls are able to really help with those.
it's a win, win.
