a real nail biter.

So yesterday, was the first Girl Scout meeting for our troop.
You would have thought I was going in front of a firing squad.
I even cried a little while organizing my stuff the other night.
Don't fret about that, I only have one emotion.
Crying.
Well maybe two.
I laugh hard and loud-a lot. :)
This meeting was informational for the parents and busy work for the girls.
There are eight girls in the troop.
Perfect size.
The parents are all familiar to me. 6 from Anne's class. whew!
All were eager to help, and to make it a good experience for the girls.
I got there 15 minutes early and got everything ready.
(big deal-early is not in my vocab!)
Parents showed up.
Girls entered.
Directions were given.
Meeting was held.
We all went home.
I didn't even sweat. (is that an emotion, if so, I have THREE emotions! HA!)
I think this is going to be a good thing.
I can breathe again.
Isn't that the stupidest thing, that I thought it wouldn't be a good thing?
BUT, I was out of my box.
It was weird for me.
But, my new motto is-what doesn't kill you, makes you STRONGER! :)
This didn't kill me, so I guess I'm getting stronger.
(until cookie selling time!)
Happy Hump Day!

Clutter

that is what is in my head right now.
clutter.
I have to admit, I don’t do well with clutter.
it makes me crazy.
even though at times, you would walk in my house and not believe me for a second! :)

it is the change in everything that is driving me crazy. the uncertainty. the new life of school with Anne, (I promise I’ll drop that excuse from my list very soon…) changes at school with a new boss, and then already talk about ‘changes for next year’ (really, necessary talk in September???!) things are just un-nerving.

Adam has been going through an audit with his business. it has frankly been, well, hell. nothing life changing, or illegal going on, just the sheer thought that someone is ‘watching, looking, snooping…’ is enough to drive the sanest man nuts. and that my friend, is close to what is happening to my poor husband. he has not been himself. at all. snappy, tired, irritable, and dare I say-irrational. luckily, the past few days he has kind of become at peace about it. could be the insane amount of praying I have been doing, maybe he is just starting to realize that it is a semi normal thing, and we will survive, none the less, I’m very thankful that calmness has covered him, but I’m BEAT. I have been cheering him on, calming him down, and trying to keep everyone from getting in his way for over six weeks now, if I can be honest, it can wear the strongest chick down to just a pile of feathers! I’m not looking for pity, just stating the facts!

I’m not real sure why I felt the need to say all this, just needed to get it off my chest I guess.
back to the normal happy go lucky format of Well That’s Just Us, real soon! ;)

just a few things.

Michelle sent this link to me. I haven't had a chance to get to far into it BUT what I saw looks GREAT! She recommends the Feb 25th entry! :)

We all are looking forward to it. Keep praying for good weather. ;)

It's a gloomy, chilly, Sunday, but I'M LOVING IT! Perfect for making Homemade Vegetable Beef Soup-so homemade mind you I had to dig the marrow out of the soup bones and brown the meat in the marrow (yuck-but I made it through!)and catching up on all kinds of things you catch up on a Sunday like this. ;)

Happy fall y'all!

a day at the zoo.

A couple weekends ago I took the chicks to the zoo.
Adam needed some time to get things done with business realted things and I could tell we weren't really needed around. :)
We had an awesome day! Spent the whole day at the zoo. Stopped at every train station, got off and looked around. The girls loved every second of it.
We missed Daddy, but made it through anyway! :)

our next Mary Lou Retton?

Anne finished up her Gymnastics lessons two weeks ago.
If I can be honest, I don't think she was the top gymnast, but it was her first attempt.

She had fun. That my friends, is all that matters.

I think next summer, we'll try it again! Maybe she will give ol Mary Lou a run for her money!

simple.

I brought home 5 caterpillars this past weekend to feed and water before they formed into their cocoons.
Anne was smitten.
Even more amazing, we were lucky enough to see them spin into their cocoons, or sleeping bags as Adam and Anne termed it!
It was simple, but quite amazing for all of us to see!

a little cake and some candles.

Today is mom's birthday.
She isn't all too keen on this year's big day.
I don't know why.
She's accomplished so much in her short years here. ;)
A doting wife, wonderful mother, loving grandmother, talented crafter, fine cook, and loyal employee...just to name a few.
We threw Mom a very small, intimate, family affair this weekend. It was a surprise. She claims she sensed it from the conception of the idea. I don't believe it. Not for a second.
(but, since she's my mom, and I have the same odd intuition. She knew about it before I even thought of it! :))
Happy birthday momma, you're only as old as you feel!

I believe! I believe!

Don't you just hate it when you give someone the right to say 'I told you so?'
Well, I gave my momma the right to say it LOUD AND CLEAR!
I have had horrid allergies the better part of my live long days. They took a brief hiatus in the 5 years that I had been pregnant, nursing, etc. (Not 5 years straight, but you get my drift!) I guess the hormones got to talking to the sinus's and realized everything is back to normal...

None the less, I have been stricken with allergies-again. In a bad way. The kind where you sneeze, itch, water, run, everywhere you go. It eventually clams up and take refuge in my sinus cavity and then I am so miserable with a headache and pounding cheeck-ache.

I finally gave in, and after years of my mom telling me that the 'Neti Pot' is the next best thing to sliced bread, I have to admit. She was right-AGAIN.

It was the.most.awkward.thing I have expierenced in a while but it works. It really, really works.

The whole event was quite humerous. I snuck upstairs to have a little orientation with the 'snot genie' (I so graciously gave it that name-doesn't the little pot look like a genie in a bottle kind of pot?) A few minutes later, they all came looking. Adam came in and proudly said. "I gotta see THIS". Anne said, "Are you putting that thing in your nose?" Kate just said. MEEEE TOOOOOO! So there I was. With a genie bottle shoved up my shnoz, water running out of the opposite nostrile and the whole fam damily crowded around to watch.

I swear we really could be The National Lampoon people.
Got sinus issues? Trust me. It works. GO GET ONE!

Food.

You know what they say.
The way to a mans heart is through his...STOMACH!
(or something like that.)
Adam has had an odd bit of work related stress here lately and I decided to try to 'fix it'.
It worked. ;)

Try these four things, if you are in the same boat..or looking for new recipes!

1.Pioneer Woman's BBQ MEATBALLS (it seems to me, that I think I have posted about these little works of magic, but I'm a little too unmotivated to see if this is a repeat. Sorry!)

2. Pioneer Woman's MASHED POTATOES

3. Whatever's GLAZED APPLE BARS
and tonight's menu-Julia Child's Poulet Roti (aka-roasted chicken with LOTS of steps!)

I'm sure all this will help settle nerves, you think?
Bon Appetite!

America.

I haven't forgotten have YOU?

I remember hearing this song for the first time and blaring my Buick's speakers as LOUD as they would go!!!! Still do it, every time I hear it.

We continue to stand tall and proud as the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!
Last September 11th I wrote a looooong post about my memories of that horrid day. I thought I would spare everyone today. If you are totally intrigued look here.

fun...

Driving along-
Anne says, Mom?
Yes.
Do you know why God created sin???
Uh, well, that's kind of a tricky question. Do you know why?
BECAUSE HE WAS BORED IN HEAVEN AND NEVER SAW IT...You know THAT!!!!
Well, okay then.
TGIF!

Because NICE MATTERS!

I have said it before and I will say it again...
NICENESS MATTERS!
It's a must.
A simple smile, a quiet hello, or just keeping your mouth CLOSED when you have nothing nice to say.
That's all.
I think I am going to find a shirt that says all that!
Anyone know a good screen printer?! :)
Enough of that...
How about some nice pictures??

*pictures taken at mom and dads country home...i was a bit impressed with myself!!!*

Welcome September

September=Apples.
End of sentence.
This past weekend while visiting Mee-Maw and PaPa we also visited PaPa Phil.
He has an apple tree at his house.
We spent a good while picking apples.
Soooo much fun.
Some of my favorite pictures I may have ever taken. (or at least for this week-wink wink!)

weekend

We celebrated Labor Day weekend on the more quiet side.
Packed up Saturday morning and visited Meemaw and PaPa at their country home.
It was hard to do anything but have fun!

From wiffle ball to authentic tea parties, we pretty much did it all!

puppy love

Adam's parents have gotten a new dog.

I'm not a HUGE dog lover, but a puppy just about does me IN!

He is too cute.

The grandkids have voted on the name to be-Biscuit! :)

Paw-Paw is still thinking. ;)
