more on kate....

i always feel like kate is kind of left in the shadows right now.
she isn't really 'in school'....
she doesn't have many activities of her own....
and often is a 'tag along'.....
here are her  5 year photos that i took last weekend in 'the country'.
i think they turned out darling...
but if i didn't say that...
there may just be something wrong with me. ;)

we love our kate.

kates birthday party...cowgirl style.

last weekend we celebrated kate's 5th birthday with the family in 'the country'...still looking for a better name for that place.
that's where kate wanted to celebrate her birthday. so that's what we did.
nothing fancy, nothing over the top...
we had the best time ever.
i think she did too.
fresh out of the tub...she just laid eyes on her pinata

5.

kate and her 5 pinata this past weekend. ;)

so....kate turns 5 today.
5 years ago, adam drove me to the hospital at 7 in the morning and 3 hours later i gave birth to a 10 pound 7 ounce, bundle of joy.
we have been smitten since the minute she was born.
i can't stand it. i can't believe it.
the thought of her being 5 makes me want to throw up, scream from the mountain tops, and weep all at the same time (mother psychosis is what that is called)
she has been nothing but a light in our lives.
click on the link below.
i threw together a video this week of the past few years.
i wish i could make some fancy link, or coded something...but it is what it is....and here it is. :)

Katherine's 5 years

it's simply amazing that sweet little thing....we traveled through some weird, uncertain road prior to kate and were more then blessed with our katherine elizabeth.  i certainly praise the Good Lord for blessing us with our sweet girls.

40.

sunday was the walk.
which is a pretty big deal in our family....
but it was also my mom and dads 40th anniversary.
we love them so much.
seriously are our idols of what we need to be doing in marriage.
i love my momma and daddy  more then any words could say.
i couldn't even put it into words, adam did at the dinner and it still wasn't adequate.
we think my mom and dad are the utmost models for all marriages.
through thick and thin, they have held it together.
in 35 years of my life, i can NOT remember one time a raised voice or harsh word (except the covert mission to lee wards)
i can't go on because my keyboard would short out with wetness from my tears.
i seriously, hope to God, I can portray the model of marriage to my children, that they have shown to me.
to the best parents and marriage that there can be....
happy anniversary. from a couple that idolizes you!
enough said.

big day.....

so.....today was the walk for diabetes.
we are walking to find a cure for type 1 diabetes, in case you didn't know....
i have had it since the age of 7.  my dad since forever ago(25ish he was diagnosed),....and my aunt has it too!
we have been walking for 4 years...
the first year, just adam and i....and then i had the idea/conviction to round some people up.
it has grown to upwards of 40 people.
i'm very tickled by the number of people.
but i have said before and i will say it again, the walk day is hard for me.
not so much this year, but really, i'm telling a lie.
it's hard.  as i told a close friend of mine...i hate that we have to walk, and look 'happy' that we are there in a freezing cold october morning, all wishing, and hoping, and praying, there is a cure.  when there isn't.
i remember, back in the day when my doc wore a bow tie and a black doctors bag and looked my momma deep in the eyes and said 'by the time your grandkids are here....we'll have a cure.....'
hate to call anyone on the carpet, but i'm sure that doc is not with us anymore, but MY kids, (my momma's grandkids) are walking with us proud to wear the shirts that say we are going to STOMP OUT DIABETES!
so.....we had a great morning....we had a great time, we raised 2,500 dollars (unofficially, numbers still coming in) and all celebrated the idea that someday very, very soon....we will have a cure.  and i can't wait.
in the meantime...we will all keep marching, and stomping, and giving it the boot....diabetes is NOT going to get the best of US!  no thank you!

it has been complete for about a week or so "officially".  we still need to put the handles on the cabinet doors and hang a few more things on the walls but....here it is:
