Thoughts by Anne...

On any given day, Anne blows us away with her thoughts.

I really should write them down as they happen, because I can NEVER remember each and every one of them.

Here are a few from lately.

I walked into her room and saw this perfect circle of My Little Ponies on a towel with a little pony in the middle.

Me-Anne, what's going on here?

Anne-Oh, the big ponies are watching a foal be born.

Me-A, uh, um, a WHAT?

Anne-A foal. A foal be born.

Me-What does that mean, Anne? (i really didn't want to have to have that conversation right then.)

Anne-well, I don't know, but that is what is happening.

Room stops spinning and I can see again. ;)

****************************************************************

After Girl scouts on Tuesday, Adam asked Anne how the first meeting was.

Anne-HORRIBLE! JUST HORRIBLE.

room gets fuzzy.

Adam-WHY?

Anne-Well, first, mommy made us do this project and we took too long and she didn't follow the rules.

Adam-what rules.

Anne-I had to pass out snack BEFORE the project was over.

Adam-well, you would have run out of time.

Anne-Leaders HAVE to follow the rules.

**************************************************

After church Sunday, Anne whispers to me.

Mom, are we sitting on Jesus?

Me-Um, WHAT? No, I don't think so, why?

Anne-well, where does he sleep?

Me-I don't think He sleeps.

Anne-We ARE IN GOD'S HOUSE! WHERE IS HIS BED?

*************************************************

One of Anne's friends from the babysitter also started Kindergarten this year. She rides the bus from Debbie's house and is usually catching it as we are pulling away to take Anne to school.

Anne-mom, why does C get to ride the bus?

Me-her school has buses, yours does not.

Anne-why does hers have buses and mine doesn't?

Me-well her school is different...(searching...searching for more reasons.)

Anne-like how?

Me-you learn about Jesus at your school.

Anne-YOU MEAN SHE DOESN"T KNOW JESUS?! (i think she prayed the whole rest of the way for C.)

******************************************

Anne's room was such a mess last week. She wouldn't let anyone touch a thing. It had to be this perfectly messy, mess. She knew JUST what was going on with each heap or cluster of stuff. Anne came out of her room looking all forlorned. ..

Me-Anne, what's wrong?

Anne-I'm so disappointed.

Me-About what? (thinking something happened with the foal)

Anne-my room is such a mess it makes me want to CRY!

Me-would you like me to help you clean it up? we have been talking about this for days.

Anne-well, that would be nice, but otherwise, I'll LIVE!
*******************************
Anne's kindergarten teachers birthday was a few weeks ago. I found a wierd yellow spoon in her backpack that day.
Me-Anne, this is cool, where is it from.
Anne-oh, we had special treat for Mrs. D's birthday
Me-great, what was it.
Anne-oh you know, well, it was something with beer.
Me-BEER?!
Anne-yeah, it was brown, and cold, and had icecream and you mixed it all up.
I think it was an icecream float with beer.
Me-Does Rootbeer float sound like it.
Anne-THAT'S IT MOM! :)
There you have it. Some aren't quite as funny typed out, but you can get the drift of the 30 year old in a 5 year old's body that we are dealing with.

whew. i think we passed...

So yesterday, was a big day. A real big day.
Mrs. Dittmer and Ms. Lynn came to our house.
The said names are Anne Clara's kindergarten teachers.
Yes, that's right, they came to.our.house.
gulp.
I wasn't sure what to do.
Should I wear a skirt? Or would that seem weird.
Should I spray something in the house, bake cookies, like when you sell it...you are supposed to make it smell nice.
Should Anne dress super cute, or should she pick her outfit like normal.
You guessed it, I was nervous.
Even had a stomach ache a little.
But, they came.
We talked.
Anne was good.
Kate behaved.
I didn't bake cookies.
Anne picked her outfit.
I wore a skirt.
Adam came home 3/4 of the way through the visit.
The visit went great. Anne didn't act weird and shy. Kate didn't yell ME TOO ME TOO too many times...They didn't think the deer head and pheasant mounts were weird-it was great.
I'm now actually, dare I say, excited about Anne and kindergarten.
I think, it's going to be great. Anne does too.

A Fairy is coming...

...Tooth Fairy that is!

Yesterday, we discovered Anne has a loose tooth. Possibly TWO but it's hard to tell!

I can't believe it...Just can't believe it!

Have I told you I think loose teeth are kind of gross??
I guess I have a long row to hoe with that! :)

The little lady's party...

the little banner i made for Anne didn't photograph well, but it was cute-or I thought so at least. I got the idea from here, her's is MUCH cuter, but I forgot about it until Saturday morning...so time was not on my side. therefore quality was not so much. Found the ladybug cake on Family Fun. Great site/magazine for anything you want to make...My new go-to spot. (probably, will NOT be continuing with cake baking, not so good at it...handing the icing bag back over to LUCY! :) )
Our favorite cousin Annie, is getting married to our soon to be favorite cousin-in-law, Jason in August. Annie asked Anne to be the flower girl in their wedding by reading a sweet book. Anne didn't know what to think at first (well, really, she just wanted to open her presents, but since then, has been practicing how she will 'look'. )
Just birthday fun!
Momma and Kate. Adam's Aunt Pat, me, and Kate
(is it just me or does Kate look like a b.i.g. kid here?)

Kindergartener...almost

Adam and I have chosen to send Anne to Christ Community Lutheran School. I spent all of my pre college years in a Lutheran school, Adam attended some of his years in a Lutheran school so we are slightly bias to its quality. We thought long and hard and felt that it was the best match for our family.

Tonight I had to attend the Kindergarten Roundup, which was a presentation of the school, its curriculum and the facility. It was nice. Hard, but nice. Anne was as proud as a peacock to go. I had to explain multiple times that she would not be attending anytime soon. She's having a hard time grasping the idea.

I was teary through the whole thing. THE WHOLE THING. Anne had to go to the classroom to play and explore while I attended the presentation. You would have thought I was leaving her for the first time. I immediately got hot and sweaty and had spontaneous tears erupt in my eyes. I could have died. Then I had to walk into this meeting room with what seemed to be a ton of people, who were o.l.d.e.r. they looked older to me. Do I look old???? Weirdest thing. It was like an out of body experience. I had to pinch myself, mentally, a few times to realize that they were presenting this to me because I was a future parent of the school. So weird to be on the other side. Usually, its me conducting the open house presentation in my classroom, staring at all the doe-face people in the room, scared out of their skin to leave their child with a stranger. Now I'm one of them.

I survived. Barely. But I made it.
After visiting, hearing the presentation, and meeting the teacher, I am sold that it is the best choice we could have made.

Now, the countdown begins to August, when we pack Miss Anne up and send her on the never ending journey of education...
Excuse me while I go barf.
